Volunteering at H.O.P.E Testing

ACT works with H.O.P.E. to offer some hands to assist them with various tasks. Below is some information about this particular need.

There is no longer a signup, please join us at whatever time is convenient for you between 9am and 1pm.

Thanks for thinking about volunteering with HOPE!
What? We need help with making safer sex and harm reduction kits. This involves placing items such as condoms, packaged syringes, and information cards into bags and boxes to make kits.
Why? We hand out these supplies at our clinic and through outreach across Oklahoma to help reduce rates of HIV, STIs, and Hepatitis C. Supplies are free.
When? First Friday of each month.
Where? HOPE’s clinic at 3354 E 51st St, Tulsa, OK 74135 (next to the Dollar Tree).

Atheist and atheist-friendly people come together to share a meal and then enjoy an educational presentation on a wide range of topics. Our mission is to advance reason, logic, free-thought, and a secular view of the world, and topics will relate to that mission is some way.  Please bring your favorite potluck dish to share.

Day Center Meal

ACT contributes to the local community by providing home cooked meals for clients of the Tulsa Day Center.  This activity helps Tulsans in need and provides a tangible example of the goodness that comes from a secular worldview.

Participants who are bringing food should sign up here.  If you’re not able to bring food, we can always use more smiling faces to help serve.  You can also contribute to the cost of the meal here.

DWA (Drinking With Atheists)

We meet at a restaurant/bar in the area and have some fun socializing. DWAs aren’t just for drinking – some folks order dinner and some just grab a glass of tea.

This event is open to atheists and atheist-friendly people. Whether you identify as atheist, agnostic, free-thinker, humanist, or simply non-religious, you are welcome to come hang out!

Street Epistemology Practice

Street Epistemology (SE) is a non-confrontational conversation technique which helps participants explore the basis of beliefs.  Street epistemology techniques are applicable in a wide variety of social and work interactions, and these tools support ACT’s mission to encourage and advance reason, logic, free-thought, and a secular view of the world.  

Participants can bring a belief for the group to explore or just practice their non-confrontational reasoning and questioning skills.

Adopt a Spot

ACT contributes to the local community by cleaning a designated park through the City of Tulsa’s Adopt a Spot program.  This activity helps keep Tulsa clean and provides a tangible example of the goodness that comes from a secular worldview.

Cleaning equipment and trash bags are provided; bring your own gloves and, if desired, a picnic lunch.
